Question:
When did they put harded valves in all motors? This so I can use unleaded gas in my antique cars.
Expert: Cars started this change over in about 1973 and the most the trucks didnt start until late 70s early 80s. By 1984 all the cars were changed over. |

Question:
I was recently given a '73 Ford Ranger with a 390 engine for my lawn mowing business; however, it doesn't pass emissions. The mechanic said we would have to rebuild the whole engine. Other than that, the truck is in very good condition. Much of the other stuff has been replaced recently. Is it worth it to rebuild the engine? What would our other options be? Thank you for your help.

Question:
I have a 90 Chevrolet C10 pickup. When it is warm, in hot weather primarily, the starter will not turn over. The gauges deflect when the key is turned but no power to the starter. Have replaced the starter and ignition switch. No help. The car has an alarm and I disabled the kill switch. No help. When the truck cools, the starter will engage and the truck runs fine. Have you run into this before?
Expert: Where did you get the starter from? If you got it from a discount parts store it's most likely to be a faulty starter. |

Question:
I have a 1995 chevy Cavalier 4 cylinder. If I run the car hard down the interstate, get off onto an offramp, start slowing down, the car will die. It will crank again, but when I put in drive and mash the gas it will die again. Finally on the third time. I can get the car to go. It has done this three times already. What do you think it could be.
Expert: This could be alot of things but the most common problems are MAF senor (mass air flow sensor) or fuel pump (low pressure). |

Question:
How much should it cost to replace a/c in a 94 honda prelude v-tech? Compressor is bad.
Expert: When the compressor goes bad they are very expensive to replace, when you replace the compressor you will have to replace the accumulator drier and expansion valve the compressor costs around $500 and that's not including labor. The valve and drier will run about $100-$200 and the oil and recharge the system is about $70 and labor can run about $100-$200. |

What are the top three most durable, economic, roomy cars? My wife and I will be moving around the next few years and we need a good,practical, yet somewhat roomy car. What is your opinion? We want to spend 12-15k.
Expert: In my opinon the three most durable, economic, roomy cars within 12-15k are, Honda Civic, Ford Focus, Hyundai Accent. |

My 1995 Caddy has a check engine light on. What do I do? Who should I go see?
Expert: For a 1995 Cadilac the computer controls and monitors most every thing in the car. When the Check engine light is on it means the computer has read that there is a problem with the car. the best way to find out whats wrong with your car is the hook up a Diagnostic Computer it will tell us whats wrong with the car. but however there is a fee for this service it usally runs $50-$70 dollars.
